Okefenoke REMC annually sponsors four delegates from our service area who are rising seniors on an all-expense-paid trip to Washington, D.C.
The delegates selected to represent OREMC will be a part of the National Rural Electric Youth Tour---a week-long trip usually scheduled in June. Decisions regarding the 2021 Youth Tour will not be made until sometime in December. If scheduled, Youth Tour applications will be due the end of February 2021 and a link will be provided below. Interested students will be asked to complete the application, attach two letters of recommendation and a short essay explaining why you want to be an OREMC Youth Delegate, along with details on the following:
List activities you have participated in and any special honors you have received during your high school attendance, such as class officer, plays, music, athletics, organizations, etc. Include number of years of participation and comments.
List activities and years of involvement in which you have participated, such as 4-H, FFA, FBLA, Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts, Community or Service clubs. Include any offices held.
• List any public speaking experiences.
• Explain how you have contributed, or can contribute, to your community effectively. Include additional information about yourself, which may be of interest to those making the selection for this year’s Washington Youth Tour delegates.
• In a short essay, explain why you would like to be an Okefenoke REMC representative on the Washington Youth Tour.
Georgia High School Association
Along with other cooperatives throughout the state, OREMC is a sponsor of the Georgia High School Association(GHSA). We support not just the athletes at major events around the state, but the coaches as well. The Georgia EMC-sponsored Coaches’ Corners provide a respite for team coaches to relax and refresh during these events.
