A new year brings new opportunities for high school seniors and juniors living in the Okefenoke REMC service area—Brantley, Camden, Charlton, Glynn, Ware and Wayne counties in Georgia; and Baker and Nassau counties in Florida—to apply for scholarships or a trip of a lifetime as an OREMC Youth Tour delegate.

Youth Tour Wants to Help Students “Make Their Mark!”

Celebrating its 60th year in 2026, the National Washington Youth Tour, a week-long, all-expenses paid, leadership experience in the nation’s capital is scheduled for June 12-19. Delegates—currently enrolled high school juniors living in the OREMC service area— will make memories while being immersed in monuments, museums and memorials. Annually OREMC sponsors four students to participate in the National Washington Youth Tour, traveling with over 100 students from Georgia/Florida and connecting with more than 1,800 from all over the United States.

Interested students must submit a completed application by Wednesday, January 14, It must also include two letters of recommendation and a short essay explaining how the Youth Tour experience will help them “Make Their Mark.” Applications are available online at oremc.com/youth-tour.

Ten $2,000 Scholarships Offered

OREMC annually awards 10 scholarships in the amount of $2,000 each. Applicants for the OREMC Scholarships must reside in one of the eight counties included in OREMC’s service area. Applications are available online at oremc.com/scholarships and must be submitted by Wednesday, January 21.

• Applicants for the OREMC Scholarship are not required to reside in a household served by OREMC, but must live in the OREMC service area. Students of OREMC employees are also eligible.
• The OREMC Scholarship funds may be used at any accredited college, university, or technical school (not restricted to Georgia) in the U.S.
• Applicants may be either a high-school senior or an undergraduate college or vocational/technical student. Non-traditional students are also eligible to apply.
