OREMC Hosting Blood Drive April 4 in Nahunta

March 17th, 2024

Okefenoke REMC is hosting a Red Cross Blood Drive at its headquarters building in Nahunta on Thursday, April 4 from 7 a.m. – 1 p.m. The blood drive is open to the public and appointments are requested and can be made in advance using the QR code or visiting OREMC Blood Drive.

According to the Red Cross, every two seconds, someone in the U.S. needs blood. On average, only three out of every 100 people donate blood, but one donation can help save more than one life. Blood donors help patients of all ages: accident and burn victims, heart surgery and organ transplant patients, and those battling cancer.

“It has been a while since OREMC hosted a blood drive, and after reading headlines about the fact there are critical blood shortages, now was the right time to try and bring the community together to help make a difference,” notes OREMC Director of Communications & Marketing Michele Hutchins.

The blood drive will take place in OREMC’s break room. Blood donors will be directed to park in the co-op’s main lot on the east side of the building and signage will guide them to use the back door under the awning. An OREMC Member Service Representative will be on hand to greet and guide donors from there.
