OREMC Foundation Accepting Grant Applications

March 25th, 2022

The OREMC Foundation is once again accepting applications for its quarterly grant awards program. All applications must be received by Monday, April 4, 2022.

Qualified organizations are invited to submit grant applications outlining their project plans and related funding requests. A nine-member Foundation Board of Trustees—one member representing each of Okefenoke REMC’s districts—will review applications and award grants accordingly. Grant criteria, application and timelines are available on OREMC's website oremc.com/foundation. The Foundation Board of Trustees will announce grant award winners in May.

The OREMC Foundation is a community development initiative of Okefenoke REMC supporting education, community health and economic development in the six Georgia and two Florida counties the co-op serves. Currently OREMC unclaimed capital credits are the primary funding source.

Since its inception in August 2021, the OREMC Foundation has awarded over $100,000 to 30+ organizations in OREMC’s service area. “From food banks, music education and reading programs to historical preservation, public safety and meeting community health/safety needs, the OREMC Foundation Trustees have been both amazed and enlightened by the various grant requests,” explains OREMC Communications/Marketing Coordinator.

“On one hand,” she continues, “the grant requests have supported education and enrichment initiatives that support and promote learning objectives for school age children, people with developmental disabilities, even seniors 55+ looking to become more technologically savvy given the digital world we live in. On the other hand, some of the requests have revealed the many health and safety needs in our communities: basic needs such as food, clothing and shelter, foster care support, cancer care and vision care. To say the OREMC Foundation trustees are invested in helping to make a difference is an understatement.”
