OREMC Golf Tournament Fields a Full Flight of Foursomes

September 28th, 2020

Originally scheduled for May 30, then postponed to Sept. 26 due to COVID-19, the 29th Annual Okefenoke REMC Golf Tournament was a sell-out event on Saturday, raising money for the Southeast Cancer Unit, Inc.

Ninety-six players took to the links for a day of fundraising and fellowship on the Lakes Course at Laura S. Walker State Park. Coming out on top as the tournament champion was the Brantley Beacon foursome of Rick Hagen, EJ Head, Joey Hendrix and Brett Malloy with a score of 23 under par. The remaining field was divided into flights based on score and winners in each selected based on nine randomly selected holes. First place winners included the team from Southeastern Bank, Golden Isles Office Equipment and Ace Pole/Gary Strickland.

Proceeds from the event will be donated to the Southeast Cancer Unit, Inc., once all expenses have been accounted for. Offsetting the cost of the tournament were several major event sponsors: Oglethorpe Power, Georgia Transmission and Georgia System Operations, Links Sponsor; Altec, Towel Sponsor; Southeastern Bank, Golf Ball Sponsor; and Cart Sponsors Asplundh and Pike Electric.

Additionally, OREMC thanks the Fairway sponsors, Tee & Green sponsors, prize sponsors and players for contributing to the tournament’s success.  The final donation amount will be announced within the next couple of weeks.
