The POWER of PrePay

The POWER of PrePay is an exciting new option for “pay-as-you-go” electric service.  PrePay gives you the POWER to manage your electric payments and the POWER to monitor and control your usage.  It offers the flexibility of purchasing your electricity when you want, in the amounts you choose.  Daily, weekly or monthly—you select the payment plan that works for you and the amounts that best fits your budget.

Do I have to pay a deposit or fees with PrePay?*

No! There is never a deposit or late payment fees with The POWER of PrePay.  If you are already an OREMC member who has paid a deposit, it can be applied to your account.  There is never a late payment fee.  If your account balance runs low, simply make a payment to “recharge” your account to the level you desire.

Do I get a bill?

No!  With The POWER of PrePay, instead of receiving a traditional paper bill, usage is calculated daily and you purchase electricity as you need it.

How do I stay informed about my account or available balance?

The website www.MyUsage.com allows you to manage your account.  On www.MyUsage.com, you can see the usage and cost of electricity used for any given day—that’s The POWER of PrePay.  Typically, consumers don’t realize how much electricity they have used or how much it will cost until their bill arrives.  By then, it’s too late to try to reduce your cost.  The website www.MyUsage.com  gives you the POWER to understand and control your electricity usage and costs.

You can review your account balance, recent payment information and make changes to your personal contact settings.  You can select the method and the dollar amount at which you want to be notified of a “Low Balance”.  You can update the types of alerts you wish to receive, concerning the status of your account—including daily balance notification, low balance warning, pending disconnection warning, payment received, service disconnected, etc.  You can also check your account balance by calling a toll free number to access automated account information.

How do I make payments on my account?

Payments may be made in or mailed to one of our offices or you may choose to use your online banking bill payment service to send us a payment directly from your checking account.  Make payments by credit card or E-Check online at www.oremc.com or credit card payments by phone at 1-800-262-5131.  The E-Check payment fee is 60 cents.  Credit card payments are charged a 2.45% processing fee by the third-party processor, SEDC.   Additional payment options and locations are being added.  Visit www.oremc.com for an up-to-date list of payment methods and locations.

How much money should I keep on my PrePay Account?

It’s up to you!  That’s part of the POWER you have with The POWER of PrePay.  You create a payment plan that fits your budget and make the payments on your own timetable.  You can purchase enough electricity for 1 day, or one month or any amount of time.

What if my account runs low?

You will receive a low balance alert by email, text message or phone call.  This will give you time to make a payment on your account to increase your credit balance.  Payment should be made as quickly as possible to prevent your account from falling below a zero balance.  If your account balances falls below zero, your service will be disconnected the following day.

How much do I have to pay to be reconnected?

For reconnection, make at least the minimum required payment, and your service will be reconnected shortly.  The minimum amount required for reconnection is any balance owed plus $50.00 credit toward electric usage.  There are no late fees, disconnect fees, or reconnect fees.*

How do I know if PrePay is right for me?

If it is easier to make daily, weekly or biweekly payments, PrePay may be right for you.  Statistics also indicate that “pay-as-you-go” electric programs often help lower consumption due to members’ awareness of usage patterns.  If you are interested in monitoring and lowering your electricity usage, you may benefit from The POWER of PrePay.

How do I make PrePay work for me?

By monitoring your consumption, you’ll notice patterns in your daily usage that can help keep electricity costs down.  Any variation from your normal pattern—such as house guests, holidays, or extreme weather days—will become apparent.  PrePay gives you the POWER to control your budget by providing access to information concerning your daily/weekly cost of electricity.  Under the traditional billing method, you aren’t aware of your costs until you receive the bill—by then, it’s too late to control your costs.

Can I switch my traditional account to PrePay?

Yes! Just ask a customer service representative about The POWER of PrePay.  They can explain the steps to get your account switched.

Can I change from Prepay to traditional billing?

Yes.  Once you have completed 90 days of The POWER of PrePay billing, you can return to traditional billing, if you wish.  Contact customer service for more information.  A deposit, paid in advance, may be required to convert to traditional billing.

*If meter tampering or theft of service occurs, deposits and other fees will be charged.
